Shelf Life and Storage — How to Check, How to Store

All Craft Resin products share the same shelf life guidance, whether you're using Arts & Crafts, Deep Pour,
Table Top, UV Resin, or Silicone.

Shelf life

  • Unopened: approximately 1 year from purchase.
  • Opened: approximately 6 months, once the bottle has been opened and exposed to air.

These are approximate figures — resin stored well can often be used a little past these windows, while resin
stored poorly (heat, sunlight, loose lids) can degrade faster.

How to store resin correctly

  • Keep containers tightly sealed at room temperature between uses. Air exposure is the main driver of reduced shelf life once a bottle is opened.
  • Store away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature swings. A cupboard or shelf out of direct sun is ideal; avoid garages, sheds, or anywhere that gets very hot or very cold.
  • UV Resin specifically needs to be stored in a cool, dry, UV-free place — any incidental UV exposure (even ambient light through a window) can begin curing it slowly inside the bottle.
  • Don't store bottles upside down or on their side for extended periods, to avoid stressing pump seals or encouraging leaks.

How to tell if resin has gone past its useful life

  • Crystallisation or thickening: resin that has become unusually thick, cloudy, or grainy in the bottle (separate from the mixed-and-cured cloudiness covered in our Cloudy or Milky Result article) may have started to degrade. Gently warming it can sometimes restore workability — see the warming technique in our Mixing Ratio article.
  • A noticeable colour change in the unmixed liquid compared to when you first opened it can also indicate it's past its best.

If you're not sure your resin is still good

Mix a very small test batch before committing to a full project. If it cures normally within the expected
working time and cure time, the resin is still usable. If you have concerns about a specific bottle, our
support team can help you figure out whether it's still within its useful shelf life.
